Friday Night Drinks
On a wet afternoon in Dublin a few years ago I found myself in a little Irish pub drinking pints of lovely Guiness when I ought to have been siteseeing. Being Australian my previous beer experience was limited to the bubbly, ice cold liquid amber that is favoured by so many Australians. My wayward afternoon led me to develop a taste for lovely thick creamy stout so drinks tonight are influenced by this memory. I think this quaint pub looks like a superb place to enjoy a pint or two and this incredible jacket worn by Marlene Dietrich would be perfect. Happy Friday!

Friday Night Drinks
When autumn arrives I love to indulge in cinnamon, apple and ginger flavours so this cocktail is the perfect recipe for this time of year. A apple orchard would be a lovely place to enjoy and this cute Dior dress would be adorable to wear. Happy Friday!

Domaine de Canton

apple cider
lemon juice
Orange zest

Autumn Arrival
Although we are 6 weeks in to Autumn today is the first day of the season where it has felt crisp and cool. I love this change in the weather and with the turning back of the clocks and it feels lilke the ideal time to stay indoors, rest, read, cook and recuperate after a long busy summer. Of course I am not actually doing any of those things but instead was up early to race out the door to work, however it is how I am planning to spend the upcoming weekend.

Friday Night Drinks
I have had a persistent cold this week so tonight's drink is a Hot Toddy, the perfect remedy to fight cold and flu. Of course I need something cosy and warm to wear and this cute outfit seems ideal. Happy Friday!
Hot Toddy
Pour a shot of Whisky into a cup or mug, add boiling water to it. Add a spoonful of honey or sugar. Add a half slice of lemon, 2 cloves and, if you have one, a cinnamon stick. leave it it to brew for 3-5 minutes.
Depending on preference, you can remove the cloves and cinnamon stick before drinking. Although, leaving them in makes a toddy even better for clearing a blocked nose and relieving a head cold.

Friday Night Drinks...on Saturday
Good Friday is the one day of the year I try not to work at all including not going online. So Friday Night Drinks this week are on Saturday night. Inspired by the Easter weekend tonight's drinks recipe is Nigella's hot chocolate with rum. This chocolate dress looks incredible though Im really not sure how she managed to wear it without it melting or cracking.
Nigella's Alcoholic Hot Chocolate
2 cups milk
3 1/2 dark chocolate
1 cinnamon stick
2 teaspoons honey
1 teaspoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons dark rum
Directions
Put the milk into a saucepan and break the chocolate into pieces and add to the milk along with a cinnamon stick, honey, and sugar and heat gently until the chocolate is melted.
Add the vanilla and mix with a small hand whisk and still whisking, add a spoonful of the rum first and taste to see if you want more. Add more sugar if you want this sweeter, too. Take out the cinnamon stick and pour into cups. Happy Saturday!
