Friday Night Drinks

                                                

Tonight's drinks are inspired the Rooftop Garden Bar at the Peninsula Hotel in Los Angles where I spent a very pleasant night a week or so ago, the bar has a great view over Beverly Hills and the couches, fire pit and pool compliments the twinkling lights of LA perfectly.  A Sidecar is a suitable drink given the blossom and citrus fruit trees that abound this time of year in Beverly Hills. One of these tight, short Herve Leger dresses is my choice of dress for the evening. Happy Friday!

Sidecar
1 measure Cointreau
1 measure brandy/cognac
1 measure lemon juice

Shake with ice and strain into sugar-rimmed martini glass and garnish with a strip of lemon rind.

As the winter solstice approaches in the southern hemisphere I thought this icy cold cocktail was appropriate to celebrate the shortest day of the year, an ice bar would be the ideal place to enjoy. Happy Friday! 

Winter Solstice Cocktail

Orange Vodka
Cointreau
Fresh squeezed lemon juice
Soda Water
Ice Cubes
Mint
Raspberry

In a cocktail shaker combine vodka, orange liqueur, lemon juice, and ice; shake until well combined. Strain into a chilled glass; add a splash of soda. Garnish with raspberry and mint.

Although already Saturday in Australia it is only Friday afternooon here in New York, drinks tonight are a tribute to the cocktail made famous by the SATC franchise. This beautiful Dior dress wouldn't be out of place in any of Manhattan's beautiful bars. Happy Friday (or Saturday)!

A Cosmopolitan is made with vodka, Triple Sec, cranberry juice and fresh-squeezed lime juice.

I am in Los Angeles tonight at an Absinthe tasting in the hotel we are staying at in the very glamorous Beverly Hills, after arriving in town this morning after a very long flight the combination of jetlag and absinthe may be an interesting one. Happy Friday!
